Pope Francis: audience: pre-synodal meeting with young people from across the world from 19 to 24 March 2018.
“I would like to announce that, from 19 to 24 March 2018, the General Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops will convene a pre-synodal meeting inviting young people from different parts of the world: both young Catholics and young people from different Christian denominations and other religions, as well as non-believers”. The Pope made this announcement before greeting the Italian-speaking faithful at the end of his Wednesday Audience in St Peter’s Square.
“This initiative – Pope Francis explained – is part of the preparations for the next General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, which will be on ‘Youth, Faith and Vocational Discernment’, in October 2018”. “With this journey the Church wants to listen to the voice, the sensitivity, the faith and also the doubts and criticism of young people”, Pope Francis continued, adding off the cuff: “We need to listen to young people!”. “For this reason, the conclusions of the March meeting will be transmitted to the Synod Fathers”, he concluded.
